For the coming winter, why not explore a daily routine by the sea with occasional mountain escapes? On the Riviera, the idea starts with how you like to travel. A single weekend at altitude and several ski days each week lead to different accommodation choices.
A coastal base with mountains in mind
Côte d’Azur France Tourism includes Auron, Isola 2000, Valberg and La Colmiane among the area’s mountain destinations. This range opens up several ways to plan a stay. Opening dates, snow conditions, activities and access need to be checked with the resorts for your intended travel days.
We suggest starting with the frequency of your outings. If the mountains are an occasional escape, walks, shops and cultural life near your home may take priority. If they occupy much of the week, compare a coastal base with accommodation in a resort itself.
Look at access before the postcard view
Choosing an address also means considering how you leave the neighbourhood. Parking, loading the car, equipment storage and access to main roads matter when you set off early with children or luggage. Two homes may look close on a map while offering quite different journeys.
